Publix Atlanta Marathon is SOLD OUT. Half Marathon, Relay & 2nd Half races are still open!

Discover Running City USA with the Publix Atlanta Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K. Both the half and full takes runners and walkers on a route through some of the city's most historical landmarks and scenic areas showing off its tree lined streets and its authentic southern charm. Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend has something for the entire family and will show participants near and far why Atlanta is Running City USA. The 5K and youth events take place on Saturday, while the full and half marathons are held on Sunday.

2 new options for 2024!

  1. Half Marathoners, choose your path! For the first time, you can opt to run the first 13.1 miles or the second 13.1 miles of the marathon course.
  2. Marathon Relay: If you're not quite ready for the marathon, then grab your run buddy and participate in the relay. The relay is a 2 person team event consisting of two 13.1 mile legs. Each Team member receives a finisher's medal and shirt at the finish line. All the fun, half the distance!

Publix Atlanta Marathon is an Abbott World Marathon Major Wanda Age Group World Rankings Qualifying race.

The Publix Atlanta 5K will also serve as the 2024 USATF Masters 5KM Championships. For information on how to compete in this division, click here. You must register through USATF to be able to compete in this division.

The youth portion of Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend will show kids 14 and under what it means to be part of a big city marathon, offering a 5K, 3K, 100M Dash and 50M Dash. Children can run multiple distances and try out the Track & Field Zone.

Atlanta Track Club intends to hold thePublix Atlanta Marathon events as scheduled on Saturday, February 24 and Sunday, February 25, 2024. The Club has a no refundpolicy. However, If the format of the event moves to virtual ONLY or iscancelled all together due to a force majeure event, you will be given theoption to receive a full refund (less processing fees from registrationvendor). If, due to circ*mstances beyond the control of Atlanta Track Club, thelocation of the event has to be changed, refunds will not be provided, but youwill be immediately notified via email and social media.

NUMBER PICKUP & REGISTRATION

Race numbers for the Publix Atlanta Marathon, Marathon Relay, Half Marathons and 5K must be picked up at the Publix Atlanta Marathon Expo prior to your event day, unless Will Call is purchased.

For those who are unable to make it to the Expo, a third party may pick up your race number. In order for the third party to pick up your race number, they must bring a copy of your Check-In Pass which is sent to all registered participants prior to number pickup.

No race day registration is available, but individuals can register at the Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend Expo.

Number pick up is only available on event day for those who purchased Will Call. No numbers are mailed.

TIMING & RESULTS

Unofficial results available online the afternoon of the event. Results are made official approximately two weeks after the event, after all inquires have been processed.

Your timing device for this event is a MyLaps timing tag. The device is adhered to the back of your race number. DO NOT REMOVE OR BEND. Wearing your race number improperly could result in improper scoring and possible disqualification. In order to receive an accurate time, please confirm your race number is:

  • Clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)
  • Pinned in all four corners
  • Not covered (jackets, fuel belts, water bottles, etc.)

Atlanta Track Club is a member organization of both the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) & USA Track & Field (USATF) and adheres to the guidelines and rules of competition in the events Atlanta Track Club conducts & provides.

1st Half / 2nd Half

In 2024 we are offering a choice to run the "1st Half" of the marathon course (the traditional, historical half marathon course) or the "2nd Half" of the marathon course which takes participants past the iconic Mercedes Benz Stadium; through the Atlanta University Center consisting of four historically black colleges and universities; and south into Cheney Stadium for a run around Atlanta's Olympic practice surface and under the Olympic rings before heading back to the finish line.

The 2nd Half will begin at 8:00 a.m. from Home Depot Backyard.

Awards for overall male, female and non-binary awards will be given for both the 1st Half and 2nd Half events however age group awards will only be given to 1st Half participants. The 1st Half continues to feature our elite athletes and be our competitive course.

Those attempting to run the full marathon by combining the two half marathons will be disqualified. All 2nd Half Marathoners must have a start line read on their timing chip at the 8:00 a.m. start time.

MARATHON RELAY DETAILS

Everything is better with a buddy! If you're not quite ready for the full marathon, grab your run/walk partner and participate in the marathon relay. The relay is a 2 person team event consisting of two 13.1 mile legs. The first team member will begin with the overall start of the full and half marathon. The second team member takes over at the finish line once their teammate completes the first 13.1 miles of the course. Each team member receives a finisher's medal at the finish line.

REGISTRATION: The team captain will register and pay for the team. Upon completion of registration the captain will be sent to a confirmation page with instructions for managing the team. Captains will have a custom team link to invite their run partner, establish your team name and more.

LOGISTICS: Relay teams need to pick up their race numbers at the Expo on Friday, February 23 or Saturday, February 24 at The Home Depot Backyard. Along with your race numbers and t-shirts, teams will receive a branded bib belt to which they will attach their team bib. Each member of the team will wear a Relay bib on their shirt or shorts, but the bib with the chiming chip should be attached to your belt. That belt will be exchanged from the 1st runner to the 2nd at the Exchange Zone. The Exchange Zone is located at the finish line. This is also where runner #2 will wait for their teammate. An iPad will announce incoming teammates as they approach the exchange zone. The Exchange Zone is marked on the start/finish area map.

AWARDS: Awarded to overall men's team, overall women's team, overall non-binary team and overall co-ed team.

Open to 2-person teams only. Any single person attempting to run the relay by themselves will be disqualified.

COURSE TIME LIMIT

  • Marathon/Marathon Relay: 6 hours and 30 minutes (15 minute per mile)
  • Half Marathons: 3 hours and 30 minutes (16 minute per mile)
  • 5K: 1 hour and 15 minutes (25 minute per mile)
  • Mile: 25 minutes

For the safety and enjoyment of all participants, no pets, or wheeled conveyances* of any kind, including baby joggers/strollers, roller/inline skates, and bicycles, are permitted on the course. Headphones are strongly discouraged.

ULTIMATE PEACH

Ultimate Peach Qualifiers are those that have completed, in-person, the 2023 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, the 2023 PNC Atlanta 10 Miler and the 2023 Invesco QQQ Thanksgiving Day Half Marathon. To receive your benefits at the 2024 Publix Atlanta Marathon you must register and complete the in-person full marathon. Virtual finishes are not accepted for Ultimate Peach. Ultimate Peach registrants will receive designation on their bib, a medal and hospitality benefits on race day.

2024 Eligible Streaker List

Streakers are defined as participants who have completed any distance of the Publix Atlanta Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K since its inception in 2007 to the present. Virtual participants from 2021 and 2022 are eligible however virtual participation is no longer accepted in 2024, you must register for the in-person event to continue your Streaker status. Streakers must have valid results in the race they registered for and finish within the course limit to be eligible the following year.     VIRTUAL PARTICIPANTS

    Those selecting the Virtual Publix Atlanta Marathon, HalfMarathon or 5K will be asked to complete their race between Friday, February 23and Sunday, February 25, 2024. Results must be submitted by Monday, February26, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. in order to be included in results.

    Virtual participants will receive a race bib, medal andT-shirt. The last day to switch and sign up to receive your kit before race dayis Monday, February 19 at 11:59 p.m. There will be no switching to thein-person event, or vice versa, after this date. February 19 is also thedeadline for virtual participants to switch distances within the virtual event.Anyone who registers prior to Thursday, February 15 at 11:59 p.m. will havetheir kits sent prior to event day. Participants who register after this date(2/15) will have items shipped after event day.

      Distance Changes:

      In-person Marathon, Half Marathon, & 5K switches must be submitted by Thursday, February 22 at 11:59 p.m.

      Virtual:

      Virtual participants may switch to in-person, or vice versa, through Monday, February 19, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. This is also the deadline for virtual participants to switch distances within the virtual event.

      Refunds & Fees:

      There will be no refunds if you are switching from the longer distance to the shorter distance, and additional fees may apply for those switching from the shorter distance to the longer distance. Once these changes are made, you will receive a confirmation of your new race category. Should more information be needed, you'll receive a follow up email. After this time you mayvisit the Solutions counter at the Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend Expo. Therewill be no refunds given to those dropping down in distance and those moving up into the marathon may be requiredto pay the difference in pricing.

      Those in-person participants switching events on race morning will bedisqualified and removed from the results.

      MARTA

      We encourage all participants to take MARTA on race morningto avoid traffic delays due to race related street closures. Rail service starttimes for Publix Atlanta Marathon Weekend are as follows:

      • Saturday, February 24, 2024 service will begin at 5:50 a.m.
      • Sunday, February 25, 2024 service will be begin at 6:00 a.m.

      The frequency will be as follows: both days and both lines(N/S & E/W) will be on a 20 minute headway. Trains will run every 10minutes between Lindbergh and the Airport. Extra trains will be inserted asneeded The extra trains will decrease the headways from 20 to 12 minutes (and 6minutes between Lindbergh and Airport) during peak periods.

      The VineCity Station is directly across Northside Drive from the Home DepotBackyard and allows for worry free travel to the event. Be sure to look for FREEParking at any of the 23 MARTA rail stations.

      PARKING

      If MARTA is not an option, there is ample parking in andaround the Home Depot Backyard area.

      Pre-purchased parking is available in the Red, Orange and Silver Decks and the Blue Lot for $10.00 plus fees. All of these decks and lots are adjacent to the Home Depot Backyard:

      LACTATION SERVICES

      A dedicated lactation tent will be available in Home DepotBackyard at the start/finish area of the Publix Atlanta Marathon and HalfMarathon. The dedicated tent will be private and include amenities forbreastfeeding parents to take part in the weekend of events. Personal nursingpumps may then be checked at the nearby Gear Check tent for safe storage.

      GEAR CHECK

      Gear check will be available on Saturday starting at 6:30a.m. and Sunday at 5:30 a.m. If you plan to check gear, please tear the gearcheck tag from your race number and attach it to the bag provided to you atrace number pickup or another CLEAR bag. Atlanta Track Club is not responsiblefor lost or missing bags. All checked gear must be picked up from the gearcheck tent by 2:00 p.m. on race day. Any remaining bags will be taken toAtlanta Track Club's office and made available for pick-up during regularoffice hours beginning on Tuesday, February 28. Items from unclaimed bags willbe donated to local shelters after Friday, March 1.

      HYDRATION STATIONS

      Thirteen hydration stations are located approximately every1.5 to 2 miles on the half and full marathon courses. All hydration stations alsooffer portable restrooms and medical assistance.

      ON COURSE FUEL

      A variety of on course fuel options are available on both the Publix Atlanta Marathon and Half Marathon courses. The locations of each fuel stop can be found on the course map.

      Honey Stinger gels in Caffeine StrawberryKiwi, Gold and Fruit Smoothie will be offered at the "fuel" stations labeled throughout the course. Publix peanut butter pretzels, oranges and bananas are the items offered where indicated.

      Pre-race, be on the lookout for Honey Stinger Waffles available to fuel before you go or to take on your run. Those will be out for the taking along the start waves as you line up in the morning.

      PACE TEAM

      The Publix Atlanta Marathon & Half Marathon Pace Team ishere to help you achieve your goals at the event. Pace Team leads will run evensplits at the pace indicated next to the finish times. Run/walk intervals willbe offered for some of the pace groups.

      Runner 321 is a movement started by adidas encouragingathletes with Down syndrome or other intellectual or developmental disabilitiesto participate in races and other sporting events. The movement calls for everymarathon to hold bib #321, a number representing trisomy 21 in the Downsyndrome community, to ensure representation and inclusion for neurodivergentathletes in mainstream sports.
