‘Tis the season to set tradition aflurry. With Jell-O Brand Gelatin. Instead of serving cranberries the same old way, try a star of a salad. Make a wreath with a wiggle. And whip up a dessert that’ll make you see an old favorite in a whole new light.

Prepare these, and get ready for a blizzard of compliments. And wait till you see what we’re up to in the New Year!

Cup of good cheer (with rum)

Ingredients

1 package (3 ounces) Jell-O brand lemon flavor gelatin
3/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
Ice cubes
1-1/2 cups thawed Bird’s Eye cool whip whipped topping
1 tablespoon light rum (optional)
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 package (3 ounces) Jell-O brand strawberry or lime flavor gelatin
3/4 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water

Directions

Dissolve lemon gelatin in boiling water. Combine cold water and ice cubes to make 1 cup. Add to the gelatin stirring until thickened. Remove unmelted ice. Blend in whipped topping; add rum and nutmeg. Spoon into punch cups. Chill.

Dissolve strawberry (or lime) gelatin in boiling water. Combine cold water and ice cubes to make 1 cup. Add to gelatin, stirring until slightly thickened. Remove unmelted ice. Spoon over creamy layer. Chill. Makes 8 to 10 servings.

Christmas Jello recipe: Jingle nut wreath (salad)

Ingredients

2 packages (3 ounces each) or 1 package (6 ounces) Jell-O brand lime flavor gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple in juice
2/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 pear, peeled, cored, and diced
1/2 cup chopped toasted almonds
1/4 cup well-drained sliced maraschino cherries (optional)

Directions

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Drain pineapple; reserve juice. Add water to juice to make 1 cup; add to gelatin. Chill until slightly thickened. Measure 1-1/2 cups; pour into a 6-cup mold. Chill until set but not firm. Combine sour cream and mayonnaise; blend in remaining gelatin.

Chill until thickened. Add pear, pineapple, nuts and cherries. Spoon into mold. Chill at least 4 hours. Unmold. 12 servings.

Wish Upon a Cranberry Star

Ingredients

1 package (3 ounces) Jell-O brand raspberry flavor gelatin
1 package (3 ounces) Jell-O brand orange flavor gelatin
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups boiling water
1 cup Ocean Spray cranberry juice co*cktail
1 cup Ocean Spray “Cranorange” cranberry-orange sauce
1 can (11 ounces) mandarin orange sections, drained

Directions

Dissolve gelatin and cinnamon in boiling water. Add cranberry juice co*cktail and sauce. Chill until thickened. Add orange sections and pour into 5-cup mold. Chill for at least 4 hours. Unmold. 10 servings.
