Using your baking pans with good care and cleaning them well will ensure your pans continue to provide good results for a long time. Inform your customers about the right treatment for their baking pans to make sure they can use them as long as possible and make the content about their purchase.

  • Most Wilton bakeware is dishwasher safe, aluminium pans however should always be hand washed. These baking pans will become discoloured in the dishwasher because of the dishwasher detergent tablets. The detergent in these tablets is very concentrated and therefore strong, which will affect the colour of your baking pan in a bad way. Aluminum baking pans will start to look pale and damaged because of the dishwasher.
  • Never wash baking pans with abrasive cleansers or scouring pads, these may damage the non-stick coating of the pan.
  • For the same reason, be careful with using knives and other sharp materials in your baking pan. Instead of those better choose plastic or rubber spatulas.
  • The Wilton baking pans may contain a non-stick coating, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have to grease your pans. Always use a baking spray or parchment paper to prevent food remains from building up in your baking pan and damaging it.
  • When is it time to replace your baking pan?

Even if you handle your baking pans with great care, every once in a while it might be advisable to replace one. Worn out and beat up bakeware can lead to burnt treats and uneven baking. But how do you know when it’s time to replace your bakeware?

Scratches
When your baking pan is badly scratched it might still be usable, but your non-stick coating will be less reliable then it used to be. So if your treats tend to burn lightly more often or the non-stick coating is actually peeling off, it’s time to start looking for a new one.

Warped
In particular baking pans made out of thin material can warp because of the high temperature of the oven. This will get even worse when moving pans from one extreme temperature to another. It would therefore never be advisable to get your baking pan straight out of the oven into cold water. Especialy thin baking pans will not recover from this warping and you will end up with a damaged, unusable baking pan.

Food remains
Over time minor food remains and oils can build up on your bakeware, even though you make sure your pans are cleaned well. Together with the heat of the oven this will make sure your pans will discolour a bit. This discolouring and slight staining is normal and won’t affect the quality of your baking pans, but if your build-up goes beyond this, it would be smart to get a replacement.
