A little butter, milk and a dash of sugar will go a long way to improving the flavor. If you have the option, I'd recommend frozen corn over canned. Sauté peppers and onions then add a can of corn that is well drained. Pan roast the corn until some is slightly browned and the liquid is gone.
“You can eat corn fresh, frozen or canned. Any way you eat it, corn can be part of a healthy diet — just don't add a lot of extras like butter and salt,” says Homan. Instead, try healthier corn toppings like olive oil, lime juice, reduced-fat feta cheese or salsa.
“For the other months, frozen or canned are great options, but check for added ingredients. Canned corn can be high in sodium, and frozen corn packed in sauces may have extra fat and sodium.” If cost is important, though, frozen corn may be the route to go, Vadiveloo says.
