What are ground sesame seeds?

Ground sesame seeds (すりごま in Japanese) are roasted and ground sesame seeds. To enjoy the aroma of freshly ground sesame, you can use a mortar and pestle or a sesame seed grinder. Also, ground sesame seeds are sold in grocery stores in Japan, which are convenient and easy to use.

Nutrition facts

Rich in fat and protein, they also contain plenty of essential amino acids, minerals, and antioxidants like sesamin. Crushing the hard outer layer of the sesame seeds also makes the nutrients within easier to absorb.

How to storage: not to waste the ingredient

Compared to sesame seeds in grain, ground sesame seeds have more surface area which makes them oxidize quicker, so long-term storage is not recommended. Refrigerate after opening and use as soon as possible.
