Will pull a part pull an engine? ›

We supply an A-Frame and Hoist to assist you in the removal of an engine or a transmission. We also will provide a lift to help you move the engine or transmission to the exit. Click here for a list of approved/unapproved tools on the yard.

LKQ Parts LKQ stands for “Like Kind and Quality.” Like kind and quality are typically parts from the original manufacturer, but they have been removed from another car and salvaged.

LKQ Return Policy: Parts must be in an unaltered, re-sellable condition and in original packaging, with the invoice. Any returns received after 30 days from the invoice date are subject to a 20% handling/restocking fee. No returns will be accepted after 45 days from the invoice date.

Pull-A-Part Standard Return and Exchange Policy

If you are not 100% satisfied with your used auto parts purchase, you may return or exchange the item(s) within 30-days of the original purchase with your receipt. We will not accept parts for return or exchange without a receipt.

The time it takes for the mechanics to replace your car's engine depends on the model you drive and how old your vehicle is. Most engines can be exchanged in 5-10 hours under normal conditions, but the task might take longer if there are special requirements.

LKQ Remanufactured products are designed to provide years of trouble-free service. In order for your LKQ remanufactured product to perform as expected, it must be installed correctly, operated responsibly and properly maintained.

Your LKQ engine may have the optional accessories attached for convenience, but are not covered under the warranty. Thank you for your purchase of a recycled engine from LKQ. Although we are offering a “Long Block”, (engine block and cylinder head) certain accessories may be included with your engine.

Your used engine purchase is backed by our free standard warranty, and you can purchase an extended warranty if you'd like. LKQ Online will arrange for freight shipping to your location or installer.

We buy cores

LKQ Heavy Truck purchases cores for all makes and models. Cores must meet our quality standards to be eligible for purchase.

In the Event of a Failure: DO NOT uninstall the part, as this will void all warranties. LKQ must be contacted prior to any work being performed, including removing of the part, in order to maintain warranty coverage.

Our free standard warranty covers all LKQ Online used parts except airbags, seat belt assemblies, and tires for six months or 6,000 miles, whichever comes first. The prices of the extended warranties vary according to each part.

The Core Charge deposit is charged at the time of purchase. However, once the recyclable component from your old auto part is returned to LKQ Pick Your Part, the charge is refunded to you. When you return the replacement auto part, not only will you save money, but you will be helping the environment as well.

Replacement of an engine can take anywhere from 10 to 12 chargeable hours. If you take the standard quote of $150 per hour, you could be looking at $1,800 when all is said and done.

It can be a time-consuming and potentially difficult process, and will require a different approach for every make and model; so it's important that you refer to a service manual specific to your car.

Common engine swap challenges include ensuring the new engine is compatible with the electrical, cooling and exhaust systems. And wiring and reprogramming the vehicle's computer system often requires specialized knowledge and tools.

A seized engine is one that won't turn over (or won't turn over completely) due to an internal failure. In other words, the engine is “locked up” or “frozen” and will not run.
