Contrary to popular opinion, mulling spices are not just blend of spices to use at Christmas. They make all sorts of dishes and beverages come alive with technicolored flavor.

Mulling spicesshould be enjoyed all year long.

Mulled Lemonade Recipe (4)

The classicblend of mulling spices includes: cinnamon, star anise, ginger, cloves, cardamom, peppercorns, and orange peel. However, this blend can be easily tweaked to suit your tastebuds.

For the Mulled Lemonade Recipe I made a quick simple syrup with boiling water and sugar, then added the mulling spices and let them sit and steep for at least 20 minutes.

After that, it’s just a matter of adding more water and fresh lemon juice.

I think this is the quintessential Spicy Perspective recipe – the photo of the lemonade in the glass looks just like the little spice bundle in your blog header! (All of the photos do, but especially the one of the glass.) I’m definitely going to try this. I find lemonade to be a dull drink.
