Super Bowl stats: How many hot dogs and beers were consumed? (2024)

Super Bowl LIII didn’t produce many points – the fewest in the big game’s history, in fact – but it generated some huge numbers in other areas.

For example: Mercedes-Benz Stadium officials said Thursday that the fans in attendance purchased 117,400 beers and 16,300 hot dogs.

The stadium recorded 110,184 different food-and-beverage transactions on Super Bowl Sunday, including 76,446 credit-card transactions, which officials said represented “a single-event record for all sports venues run by Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s payments and transactions processing partner.”

Records also were claimed in technology usage.

Staying active on social media, fans at the game used 24.05 terabytes of data – a 47-percent increase from the previous year’s Super Bowl in Minneapolis and a “new record for any event in history,” according to MBS officials.

Seventy percent of the 70,081 fans in attendance used the stadium’s WiFi network, the highest recorded for any event there.

Stadium officials also said 7,392 pounds of food from the event were donated to families in need across Atlanta through a partnership with Second Helpings Atlanta. And 80,120 pounds of materials, including glass, aluminum, cardboard and plastic, were recycled.
