Tears stream down Eagles coach Nick Sirianni's face during Super Bowl national anthem (2024)

How much did this Super Bowl moment mean to Nick Sirianni?

He was shown on the videoscreen with tears running down his face. Sirianni thought his career was at a crossroads 10 years ago, when Andy Reid became the Chiefs' head coach, then fired Sirianni, who in 2012 was the Chiefs wide receivers coach, and most of the other assistants.

Here he is 10 years later, going against Reid in the Super Bowl.

After the game, Sirianni explained his emotional outburst.

“I’ve dreamed about this since I’ve been two years old," he said. "I said to our guys, ‘some of you guys have been dreaming about this since you’ve been two, some of you since you’ve been in peewee football, some of you since high school, college or even when you got to the pros. But we’ve all been dreaming of it.’

"This is what you dream of being in this moment. It’s just emotional because there’s a lot of work, not just by myself, but a lot of people."
