Valentine’s Day is only a day away! The tradition of giving chocolates for the occasion has been around for hundreds of years. Maybe you’re wondering: what are the different chocolate fillings – and which one has been named as the country’s favorite? Here is what the answer to that question is!

Eighty-seven percent of consumers across the nation plan on giving chocolate or candy. That’s to be expected since it’s a classic way to celebrate this special day. Still, everyone’s different! Around 50% of chocolate fans actually use the chocolate “map” that some boxes provide. They’re looking for their favorite fillings and flavors. About 31% of consumers just dip their hands in and try whatever they’ve chosen. Then there are the chocolate eaters who nibble a corner to see what the filling is (13%) and those who open the bottom of the piece to see what is hiding inside of it.
The Power of Preference
The power of preference is undeniable. At 32%, it turns out that caramel is the favorite filling, with nuts coming in second place at 24%. Regardless, it all just speaks to how popular this tradition has been and how long it has endured. Chocolate and candy continue to prove how much they can symbolize love and affection, even on days not specifically dedicated to it.
