You might think of Halloween and Valentine’s Day when it comes to the best candy holiday, but don’t sleep on Easter. After all, it’s pretty much a fact that our favorite candies somehow taste even better when in the shape of a bunny or an egg! Even the numbers prove that Easter candy takes the cake, as 31% of Americans say Easter candy is their favorite compared to the 29% and 24% who prefer Halloween candy and Christmas candy, according to DoorDash.
Now that you know where Easter ranks in the candy holiday hierarchy, you’re probably wondering where your favorite Easter candy falls in the pecking order, as well. Luckily, the food delivery service has also revealed the most popular candies around the United States, so you can unwrap your state’s most popular candy ahead of Easter! According to the folks over at DoorDash, two beloved chocolate eggs have taken first and second place, and the results may shock you.
Unless, of course, you’re a peanut butter cup lover, in which case you've probably already guessed that Reese's Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Eggs are in the lead as the most popular Easter candy nationwide! The luscious, peanut butter cream-filled chocolate eggs reign supreme in 33 states, including Ree’s home state of Oklahoma. And if America’s aptitude for eggs isn't yet clear, let the second-place candy winner—Cadbury Milk Chocolate Creme Eggs—spell it out for you. The British fondant-filled chocolate eggs took the top spot in 14 states, leaving only three states for the other top Easter candies!
As for the other spring treats, Starburst Jelly Beans broke the chocolate egg streak, falling in third. The fruity candy hybrid tied for third place with an Easter Variety Pack and a Snickers, Twix and Milky Way Pack, each of which came first in the remaining three states.
After all that chocolate talk, you probably have candy on your mind. But instead of tearing into a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter eggs, might we suggest making your own homemade peanut butter eggs to fulfill the craving instead? They’re complete with colorful sprinkles and as much peanut butter filling as your heart desires, plus they make a super fun Easter craft!
