Johnsonville Kielbasa Sausage Recalled Over Possible Rubber Contamination (2024)

More than 35,000 pounds of Johnsonville turkey kielbasa sausage was recalled because the meat may be contaminated with pieces of rubber, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced March 7.

The problem was discovered after complaints from consumers. There have not been reports of injury from eating the sausages.

The recall notice did not indicate how the sausages may have been contaminated.

The turkey kielbasa sausages were manufactured Oct. 30 and 31, 2023. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service expressed concern that the recalled sausages may be in consumers’ freezers. Anyone who has the affected products should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.

The recalled kielbasa turkey sausage

The affected kielbasa was manufactured by Salm Partners of Denmark, Wisconsin. The following products are subject to recall:

  • 12-ounce vacuum-packed packages containing a single piece of “Johnsonville Polish Kielbasa Turkey” sausage with “best by” dates of May 17 and 18, 2024, printed on the side of the packaging.

The establishment number “P-32009” is also printed on the side of the products’ packaging.

Consumers with food safety questions may call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov. Consumers who need to report a problem with meat, poultry or egg products can submit it online to the Electronic Consumer Complaint Monitoring System.
